All Time Low has emerged as one of the most popular new bands in recent memory, beloved by an increasingly fervent fan following for their fast-paced and fizzy brand of pop-punk. Now, with the hugely anticipated "NOTHING PERSONAL," the Maryland-based band has exceeded all expectations with a collection of effervescent new songs, marked by unstoppable hookiness and a newly discovered knack for exploration and invention. Where other bands might have played it safe by rehashing established hits, All ...

Grace Potter talks like a direct punch — fast, hard, no nonsense, no room for worrying how her words might be interpreted. When she reveals the subject matter of her recent song, "Paris" — "It's pretty clear it's about having sex, and nothing else," she said — it doesn't come off as calculated or affected. It's just Grace Potter.

Don't let that "vs." fool you: eighty-something local music vet James Samuel "Cornbread" Harris isn't so much a rival to rockabilly revivalist Cadillac Kolstad as he is a mentor. The two pianists have been sharing double-bills in a number of local music hot-spots, including their regular Sunday gig at the beloved West Bank dive Palmer's, and you couldn't ask for a more fascinating '50s-tinged duo. Harris is a WWII vet who joined Augie Garcia to record the Twin Cities' first rock'n'roll record (1955's ...

When Mikhail Gorbachev was contemplating dismantling the Soviet Union, according to documentary film maker Larry Nager, he played Elvis Presley records for background music. "Elvis did change everything," said Nager, author of the 1998 book "Memphis Beat: The Story of America's Musical Crucible." Or consider this: When Tom Morgan of Whiteville, Tenn., auctioned off "a ball about the size of a tangerine" of Elvis' hair clippings in 2002 that he had received from the King's regular barber, it fetched $115,000.

"It's a big world/It's easy to get lost in it," Justin Bieber coos on the penultimate track of his second commercial release and first full-length album. This is one kid, however, that's anything but lost in the mix. The 16-year-old from Stratford, Ontario, has gone from viral sensation to platinum recording artist with last fall's seven-song EP "My World," and Biebermania has only grown since then — partly thanks to the ubiquitous crying toddler video online.

Charlie Gillett, who turned his youthful zeal for rock 'n' roll into an influential career by writing one of the first serious rock histories and, as a disc jockey in London, helping to discover talents like Dire Straits and introduce the new genre of world music, died on Wednesday in London. He was 68. The British Broadcasting Corporation said he had suffered from an autoimmune disease and died of a heart attack.

In the footage Brown delivers an 18-minute barrage of splits, twists and spins. He hits his knees, drops into a push-up and glides halfway across the stage on one foot. During an epic, gravity-defying version of "Night Train," he teases the audience into hysteria with multiple fake exits.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has proven to be one of the most enduring and endearing shows of all time. Taken from the book of Genesis, the story of Joseph and his 11 brothers is the first musical by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice. Joseph is wrapped in a tuneful score that runs the gamut of rock'n roll styles. The message of hope in the story reveals a truth of our humanity: "One can never know how events will turn out, so trust your individual values."
